Opera Night this Monday!

Preparations are well under way for this Monday's forthcoming opera night. It's going to be a very busy day for everyone- particularly because D'Arcy and Anna are in concert in Leeds at lunchtime and have to dash back for the school run before getting ready for the evening. Oh the glamour! Anna has said, however, that Fricka might get her first outing... so be warned- here comes Die Walkure to The Malt Shovel!

Harry and Pru are parents.

The Malt Shovel is delighted to announce that, in the early hours of Tuesday August 24th 2010, Pru gave birth, without any intervention whatsoever, to 10 beautiful piglets. Mother and babies are doing fabulously. She is proving herself to be a very good new mother indeed.

Harry's going to be a daddy!!

D'Arcy and Anna are expecting mini-Harrys and Prus at any moment! Pru is safely back at Holme Bottom Farm, looking enormous, nesting nicely and looking ready to go. Will keep you posted.

Harry lives on... we hope!

Yesterday, two of our pigs, Amy and SpottyBots went off to supply The Malt Shovel with the next batch of incredible bacon and sausages. Pru and Flick were being taken off for a Summer of pedigree love. HOWEVER, upon closer inspection, it looks like Harry, who was taken away a couple of months ago, may have left a parting gift. We strongly suspect that Pru may be a mother a little sooner than we expected and we are eagerly anticipating the news of her scan. D'Arcy is absolutely delighted that his beloved Harry might have a little reincarnation. Fingers crossed!

We're opening "The Smallest Corner Shop in the World!"

We are hoping to launch it with a bit of a banger in the next week or two, but shortly The Malt Shovel will have a wonderful, and ever so slightly quirky, way of offering customers our home-reared/ home-cured bacon, our fabulous Gloucester Old Spot Sausages, cabbage salad, pate and many more of our delicious products to take-away! Watch this space and we will soon announce the opening of "The Smallest Corner Shop in the World"
